Callie Lythgoe is a costume designer and maker currently based in central Pennsylvania. She is a story-driven designer whose costumes are transformative for actors and audience alike. Her designs are informed by thorough historical research while being mindful of the modern gaze. She is enthusiastic about creative and collaborative storytelling. Her goal is always to create an immersive visual experience that excites the minds of both audience and performer, allowing them to connect with the magic of live performance.
Callie currently works as the Artist and Lecturer in Costumes for Susquehanna University’s theater department. In her role, she oversees the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of all garments used in SU’s theatrical productions. She teaches classes in sewing, costume design, and theatrical hair and makeup, and supervises a staff of four stitchers as the Costume Shop Manager. Callie has seven years of experience in costuming and has designed professionally for theaters across the country, such as Arkansas Shakespeare Festival and at Gamut Theater in Harrisburg in conjunction with the National Civil War Museum. She holds an MFA and BFA in theatrical design from the University of Arkansas and Utah State University, respectively.
